While television and radio revolutionised mass communication in the twentieth century, both were one way channels of information transfer. Both mediums, while useful for efficiently propagating a limited amount of information to mass numbers of people, were virtually worthless helping people satisfy basic needs of feeling a connection with others and a belonging to a group.
