Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
Sladen continues his research on the home front in Britain during World War II with a study of the government restriction on cloth, clothing, and footwear, and its impact on society. He finds that the scheme was little liked at first, being seen as yet another wartime deprivation. The overall effect, however, was to improve production and manufacturing practices and standards, not only freeing raw material and labor for the war effort but also keeping the price of clothing low throughout the war.
