Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

The medieval world was a distinctive one, rich in change and diversity. This book brings together these disparate worlds to show one medieval world, stretching from Connacht to Constantinople and from Tynemouth to Timbuktu. This set of reconstructions presents the reader with the future of the medieval past, offering appraisals of the evidence and modern historical writing. Articles are thematically linked in four sections, exploring identities in the medieval world; beliefs, social values and symbolic order; power and power-structures; and elites, organisations and groups. This set of views from multiple perspectives conveys the liveliness of current approaches to studies in the field.

Publishers Weekly Review

By now a familiar sight on city streets, Stencil Graffiti gets a tribute in this book showcasing the work of the most prominent and important stencil artists working today. Author and U.K.-based graphic artist Tristan Manco gives a brief history of the form (whose origins he traces to the political street stencils of Fascist Italy and other Southern European and Latin American movements), then spotlights artists like Thomas Baumgrtel, whose signature bananas decorate surfaces all over Cologne; Miss-Tic, creator of sultry female figures ubiquitous in Paris; British parodist Bansky, who got his start in "the great Bristol aerosol boom of the late 1980s" and other, mostly European talents.
