CHOICE Review
In spite of some faulty editing, this luxuriously produced volume will be very useful to students of architecture. One can think of no other book that will better teach the importance of architectural details as determinants of the character of buildings. Detailing by such architects as H.H. Richardson, F.L. Wright, Otto Wagner, and Le Corbusier are discussed in the text and illustrated in photographs and three-dimensional line drawings. The paucity of available sources may be the cause for the questionable relevance of some of the abundant graphic material. In spite of such weaknesses, the book should serve as a useful model for courses in architecture, and certainly as a unique concentration of information not otherwise available. Ford is a practicing architect and an associate professor at the University of Virginia. -P. J. Mitarachi, Boston Architectural CenterThere are no comments on this title.
