In this book Smith mixes glimpses of gardening history with bits of information ranging from outdoor landscaping with a variety of plants to indoor gardening. An experienced English garden writer and TV/radio personality, Smith has a rambling, pleasant style, but the book lacks focus within the gardening arena. It will frustrate American gardeners who need information to help them with specific gardening projects or problems.
