Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
Coppola, Bogdanovich, Scorsese, Lucas, Hooper, Altman, Spielberg - they were the generation who re-wrote the Hollywood script for the 1970s through the remarkable films they made- Bonnie and Clyde, Easy Rider, The Godfather, The Last Picture Show, Taxi Driver , films which still stand as modern classics. In Easy Riders, Raging Bulls Peter Biskind recreates the director's decade. One of the most exhilarating periods in film history, it began with Easy Rider in the late 1960s and ended with Raging Bull and Beverly Hills shrouded under a blanket of coke in 1980. Based on hundreds of interviews with the directors themselves, as well as producers, stars, studio executives, writers, spouses, ex-spouses, and girlfriends, this is the full story of the crazy world the directors ruled. Never before have so many celebrities talked so frankly about one another and the drugs, sex, and money that made so many of them crash and burn.
Cleverly constructed, like a Robert Altman film, and written with the flair, daring and ruthless honesty that made You'll Never Eat Lunch in This Town Again such a success, Easy Riders, Raging Bulls reveals the hidden history of the most creative era in Hollywood since the heyday of the studios.

Publishers Weekly Review
Set in 2014, Bond and DeFelice's second thriller about a looming conflict with China more than fulfills the promise of the first in the series, Shadows of War. China, desperate for food, has invaded Vietnam, where environmental scientist Josh MacArthur witnessed the Chinese attack and a subsequent massacre. CIA officer Mara Duncan and a team of SEALs are smuggling Josh out of Vietnam so he can return to America and tell his story to President George Greene, who's trying to persuade Congress to stand up to the Chinese. Meanwhile in Hanoi, Maj. Zeus Murphy, at Greene's behest, is doing what he can to prevent the Chinese from rolling through and defeating Vietnam. Wire-taut suspense, credible characters, and an original premise make this one of the better recent entries in the military action subgenre. While the book works as a stand-alone, readers should begin with Shadows of War. (Nov.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.Booklist Review
The latest in Bond and DeFelice's Red Dragon Rising series (following Shadows of War, 2009) continues to up the pace while maintaining substantive characters who aren't overshadowed by the warfare. Government agent Mara Duncan rescued a scientist in the first book, and now she needs to get him out of Hanoi so he can testify in front of the United Nations. The majority of the world doesn't know that a war is being waged, but that will change with the scientist's speech. The Chinese government knows the man is still alive, and they don't want their operations discovered, so they send a ruthless assassin to make sure the scientist doesn't get out of Vietnam in one piece. Can Duncan keep him alive while a world war continues to escalate? This fine follow-up doesn't suffer from being second in a series. Reading from the beginning might be ideal, but it's not necessary to enjoy the story.--Ayers, Jeff Copyright 2010 BooklistThere are no comments on this title.
