Since the time of the advent of computer aided art, it could be told as an dark age of code in digital medium art history. The majority of computing evolvement towards hiding code was commonly described as the black art and covered up by GUI (Graphic User Interface) which dressing with the term User Friendliness. However, code is a unique substance in digital medium, lacking the knowledge of code, our creativity in digital art creation would be constrained and dominated by the commerical software developer. Fostered by the public attention, today, code has been unleashed. In recent years, the vital focus on coding within the field of the digital medium arts manifested itself in various form, particularly in the emergence of the discourse on generative art and software art. We have witnessed the huge impact from code, which opened up different issues to cultivate our creative future. This thesis aims to investigate whether code enhances our creativity with contemporary artistic approaches, technology and environment.
