Establishing key trends of practitioner development in visual effects

Aside from the technical aspects involved in the art of visual effects, this dissertation will focus on how far visual effects have influenced the media industry, specifically advertising, by looking closely at the practices and experiences of many of the industry's key figures. I will be seeking evidence to show significant changes and possible improvements to past techniques and practices within the advertising industry. Has the art of 'effecting' gone so far as to have altered our cultural consciousness?
