Library Journal Review

People with disabilities often have special clothing needs. Clothing can improve their morale as well as help to camouflage deformities. This excellent book, first published in Britain, examines such universal concerns as color and proportion, then goes on to discuss the special needs of people with various handicaps. Directions are given for simple alterations for store-bought clothing and for pattern alterations for home sewers. Drawings and photos enhance the text. The British terms and metric measurements will be confusing to some and the listed resource organizations are all British; too bad the American distributor did not add a glossary and some American resources. Otherwise, this is a useful book on a subject little covered elsewhere.-- Susan B. Hagloch, Tuscarawas Cty. P.L., New Philadelphia, Ohio (c) Copyright 2010.
