Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
Pattern is everywhere we go and in everything we do. We wear patterns, we walk over them, we even eat, drink and think them - we always have and we always will - but it's unlikely they demand too much of our attention... Innovative creative and cultural organization PATTERNITY exists to join the dots. From fashion and design to the natural world, look beyond the mundane forms that we see every day to find the hidden beauty in the underlying patterns that normally pass us by.
A source of endless inspiration and innovation, this uniquely curated book will open your eyes anew.

Library Journal Review
This title can be appreciated in two ways: as a lushly beautiful art book, or as a manifesto of visual mindfulness. A product of the UK design collective and pattern archive of the same name (patternity.org), and authored by its founders, the book's strength is its arrangement of arresting, high-quality photographs linking motifs in nature, fashion, architecture, and product design. Images are juxtaposed neatly to play up connections between the organic and industrial, micro and macro, accidental and deliberately designed, paying tribute to the repeating patterns and shapes that occur in everyday life. Stacked chairs align like fallen bricks; pipelines echo palm fronds. The text-essays and quotes, often informative and occasionally self-important-exhorts awareness of this visual interconnectivity, suggesting that a holistic approach to design and to viewing one's environment with an eye for its commonalities, may be an effective way to arrive at visual solutions and spark the imagination. VERDICT Engaging, if sometimes dogmatic, this useful design and inspiration resource offers a terrific visual treat and may even convince readers to view the everyday world differently.-Lisa Peet, Library Journal © Copyright 2016.
