School Library Journal Review
YA-- Bond's overview addresses a fairly complex topic chronologically by decade, from 1900 through the 1980s. Women's clothing, hairstyles, and, to a lesser extent, men's and children's fashion are described in summarizing the predominant fashion trends in Britain as well as the influence of the U. S. and the Continent. Bond also discusses major designers and provides relevant historical background. There are not enough illustrations, and some Briticisms may be confusing. However, as a descriptive history of fashion, this adds the 20th Century to the costume book collection.-- Sally Bates, Houston Public Library (c) Copyright 2010.
